Defrost Barossa Wine Tour
In response to recent challenges faced by Barossa wineries, AMQ Tours is rolling out an exciting new tour, “Defrost Barossa”. This unique offering aims to support local wine makers and producers after severe frosts destroyed entire vineyards, while giving guests an unforgettable wine experience.
This tour includes an 7 hour tour (travel time included) to the Barossa Valley, with plenty of time to enjoy a lunch of your choice.
This tour is pre-selected by AMQ Tours to ensure that the affected vineyards can all benefit from Defrost Barossa on a rotating basis. You will visit four of the following wineries in a set tour selected by AMQ Tours:
- Gumpara
- Two Hands
- Lost Penny
- Kies
- Hoffman Family Vineyards
- Smallfry
- Elderton
- Kelleske
We can arrange pick-up from:
- Adelaide Metro area including Glenelg.
- Barossa Valley.
Complimentary water is provided for all guests.

Frost has caused severe damage to vineyards across South Australia, affecting growers statewide, with many in the Barossa and Riverland regions facing distress.
The Barossa saw some promising warm weather early in September, which led to strong bud bursts, but unfortunately, this was followed by frost on the mornings of September 13th and 17th which damaged the flatter sections of vineyards. Barossa CropWatch reported that low winter rainfall and dry soil conditions, combined with a cold southerly air mass, created the perfect storm for frost events.

The wineries are selected on a rotational basis to ensure each venue has equal opportunity to benefit from Defrost Barossa.
